Руки, ноги, пальцы. Реликварии.

Когда смотришь фото реликвариев, такое впечатление, что святые буквально разбирались на части.
Отрезали пальцы, руки, ноги, целиком череп, челюсти и верхнюю часть, забирали на мощи даже глаза!
Причем не только после смерти, но и при последующих перезахоронениях.
В предыдущем посте были черепа и кости, сейчас - реликварии для рук и ног.

Как правило- вид у мощей не особо эстетический (мягко говоря).
Но это не мешает выставлять их на обозрение:

Эту святую эксгумировали несколько раз, последний- в 1914 году.
Как пишут- тело хорошо пахло.
Ее просто разобрали на части: сердце, руки, правая нога, ЛЕВЫЙ ГЛАЗ и две челюсти выставлены в разных церквях по всему миру.

Но чаще всего их делали из серебра и золота, богато украшали.

В реликвариях в виде ног и рук специально делали окошечки, через которые были видны мощи.

Silver Reliquary contains the forearm of St. Babylas (!), martyr and bishop of Antioch from the 3rd century. Made around 1467 (they kept his arm around for that long?! Did they even have freezers back then?) in Germany. Relic from Byzantium (Constantinople, now Istanbul).
