Throne Room ceiling
This kind of ceiling, which is found in the Alcázar of Segovia is known as 'artesonado', which is an inlaid (coffered) wooden ceiling with interlaced beams of a Mudéjar origin or influence. This is the ceiling of the throne room in the Alcázar.
The beautiful Gothic lierne vault of this side chapel in Segovia is painted with Renaissance-style cherubs, beasts and arabesques. This combination of Renaissance decoration in a Gothic form is quite common in Spain, I've noticed, and culminates in the style of decoration all over Salamanca known as Plateresque because it is based on the decorative work of Renaissance silversmiths
Segovia Cathedral shares an architect with Salamanca Cathedral, namely Juan Gil de Hontañón, which may explain why it looks so remarkably similar on the inside. It is also the last great Gothic cathedral to be built in Europe and is 33 metres high in the nave, and has a 290 foot bell tower. For this reason, it is called 'The Dame of the Spanish Cathedrals'.
