Griffin Bracelet from the Oxus Treasure, 500-400 BC

Animalium, ferarum et bestiarum - Griffin -1663
Грифо́ны — вымышленные крылатые существа, наполовину львы, наполовину орлы. Имеют острые когти и белоснежные крылья.
Впервые их упоминает поэт VI в. до н. э. Аристей из Проконнеса, а также Эсхил и Геродот.
Считалось, что родом они из Индии, где они охраняли огромные сокровищницы с золотом.

А грифоны красивые. Мне графика и скульптура особенно понравились. Мне кажется, что вариантов изображения грифонов меньше, нежели единорогов и особенно русалок.
