Старинные табакерки неописуемой красоты из Эрмитажа, Музея Метрополитен и Gilbert Collection.
В 18 веке они делались из золота , драгоценных и полудрагоценных камней, украшались эмалью, росписью ,бриллиантами, изумрудами,жемчугом. Шедевры ювелирного искусства!

Gilbert Collection
The Gilbert Collection contains over 200 gold boxes, most of which were made as containers for snuff, a form of powdered and scented tobacco became a craze throughout 18th-century Europe. As snuff-taking* developed into an elaborate social ritual it gave rise to an entirely new art form of superbly made and very expensive boxes that reflected the luxurious tastes of the aristocracy. Gold snuff boxes were also used as important diplomatic gifts and were often presented as rewards by grateful monarchs.

chrysoprase snuffbox-Jean Guillaume George Kruger

Chrysoprase was a particular favourite of Frederick II, the Great of Prussia. It used to be mined in Silesia, then a part of Prussia, but fell out of favour once the Silesian deposits were exhausted. Today, most of the world’s supply of chrysoprase comes from Australia.
It is recorded that Frederick owned eight chrysoprase snuffboxes and that this one was presented by Frederick to his brother Augustus Wilhelm. The design is probably by Jean Guillaume George Kruger Kruger, a London-trained designer who moved to Berlin in 1753 and designed a series of snuffboxes in the Prussian royal collection. This particular box dates from around 1755.

А махонький музей месного значения в провинициалной Европе выкладывает у себя на сайте весь запасник, кроме основной экспозиции. Обидно...

Date: 2009-07-02 06:26 pm (UTC)Я там сама, без группы ездила в Перуджу и была потрясена- роскошная картинная галерея, городок НИЧЕГО из картин не отдал за всю свою историю. А как люди свои домики старинные берегут- по 800лет некоторым,я в таком отельчике с садиком остановилась. Красота же воспитывает. А у нас дикари в натуре растут. Жратва и телевизор, а вокруг грязь и мрак. И никому ничего не надо, а одиночки мало что могут сделать.

Из всего заезда в 120 человек я была единственная, кто изъявил желание пойти в музей Эстергази, все остальные рвались в магазины за шмотками. Меня одну и повезли в музей на экскурсионном автобусе. По дороге экскурсовод призналась, что в её десятилетней практике впервые встретилась женщина из Союза, которая захотела пойти в музей. Обычно она экскурсионные билеты продавала западным туристам и имела постаоянный доход с этого.
Выходит за двадцать лет НИЧЕГО не изменилось! А ведь это уже следующее поколение... И тряпок у себя дома достаточно..

Date: 2009-07-02 07:42 pm (UTC)Да что о простом народе говорить- я с подругой практически рассталась, сьездили вместе в Испанию... Она в Барселоне вместо экскурсий по магазинам двигала, вроде девушка из интеллигентнейшей семьи, киновед...До Гауди я ее так и не дотащила!:)
Люди как слепые от рождения, не понимают, чего они себя лишают.
