Столовое серебро

By far the greatest silver service ever created was the "Grand Service" made by Rundell, Bridge and Rundell for King George IV of England. It took approximately 10 years to complete and cost an amazing £100,000 (this is about $15 million in today's money). The great majority of this service resides in Windsor Castle and is still used by the Queen.1821

The silver-gilt figure, with its detachable head, is in the form of a mature, but prematurely gross, nude figure representing Bacchus, the classical God of Wine, seated astride a large barrel.

Начинаешь смотреть- даже самые простые вещи настолько по-разному сделаны- солонки, щипчики для сахара - так все придумано, поражаешься!

Прекрасная коллекция! Некоторые вещи я бы с радостью реанимировала! Почему бы ресторанам не вернуть к жизни такие подставочки для ножей, дома они излишни, может быть, но ресторанный сервис предполагает хотя бы минимум удобств, а класть использованный, в масле, на стол не представляется возможным, с края тарелочки он спадает, вот и не хочется иногда даже его использовать. Предлагают же японские рестораны элементарные подставочки для палочек.
Бисквитницы великолепны, такие обаятельные:)

Очень много красивых и полезных мелочей забыто.
Кольца для салфеток, подставки для меню раньше серебряные делали, очень красивые.
Даже нагреватели для ложек были- у меня есть пост в "загадках".
Про держатели для колец (ювелирных)- тоже забыли, да много чего.((
