Этот термин произошел от французского названия белоснежного фарфора (blanc-de-Chine), производимого в юго-восточном Китае со времен поздней Мин до наших дней.
Изделия покрывали глазурью, не расписывая.

Этот фарфор привозился в Европу, начиная с 17 века и оказал влияние на европейский фарфор 18-го века.
